Mormon Historical Sites in MO, IL and UT
If you're interested in Mormon historical sites, this is a good video to watch! I have visited many of the important Mormon sites in Missouri, Illinois and Utah and here is a narration of those sites with my photos. I am not a member of LDS or any other similar faith. However, I have been fascinated with the Mormons ever since I opened a drawer in a Price, UT motel in 1967 and found a Book of Mormon inside. My next goal is to visit the sites in upstate New York and Kirtland, OH. I hope to do this in the next 2 years. I am a student of American history and I am interested in the Mormons due to their historical significance. I am not interested in discussing or debating specific religious beliefs or dogma. Also, any hater comments will be immediately deleted. Don't even bother. |

LDS Bishop Explains Suffering of Children
Why does the God worshiped by members of the LDS Church allow little children to suffer? In this video, a Mormon Bishop caught on mp3 explains that meaningless suffering is part of God's mysterious plan. Suffering is for "our good", the Bishop explains, and "God's glory". Believe it or not, many Mormons find this explanation of suffering both compelling and morally satisfying. The God who oversees all human suffering is not just a being that Mormons accept or believe in, but a being they worship. "True Believing Mormons", some of whom listen to Janice Kapp Perry songs, believe a being who oversees suffering such as childhood cancers, trauma and autoimmune diseases (without even explaining his reasons for allowing such suffering to occur among perfectly innocent children of his) is a God who should not just be believed in, but worshiped. Indeed, Mormons most commonly refer to this God as their "Heavenly Father". It is a fortunate thing for the children of True Believing Mormons that they most Mormons do not parent in the same way that the "Heavenly Father" that they worship parents. |

More Mormons Against Evidence
Defenders of the LDS Church (the church that tries to convert people to Mormonism) are sometimes very open about their disdain for historical and scientific evidence. Here are a few examples of the attitudes some Mormon apologists have toward evidence. |

LDS Elder Sorry For Deceit
Many Mormon elders believe that when they give priesthood blessings (which involve putting drops of "consecrated oil" on a sick or suffering person's head), they speak for God as if God himself were present to bless the afflicted person. LDS missionaries, home teachers and other male (never female) holders of the Melchizedek priesthood give these blessings. The text-based audio file in this video comes from a former Mormon elder who regrets that he misled many people who were suffering. He pretended to speak for God, but was actually just saying whatever words came into his head. He improvised every single blessing from his own imagination. |

Mormon leaders actually believe this! Prop 8 LDS Broadcast (annotated and comments allowed)
This is re-uploaded to allow comments. This is a message for Mormons to mobilize and help ensure that Prop 8 would pass, given October 8, 2008. Elders M. Russell Ballard and Quentin L. Cook speak (in that order). They are within the top 15 of the hierarchy in this gerontocracy. The other man sitting down is a Mr. Clayton, who I don't think is a church authority but perhaps a spokesman. No thinking person can accept the LDS Church's position on gay marriage (which several of the 12 apostles will only refer to it as "same gender marriage"--leave it to the Mormon Church to be pointlessly quaint). Gay marriage does nothing to take away rights from its members nor is there any empirical evidence that modern society has been weakened by it. Changes yes, but ultimately for the best. This is clearly a case of separation of church and state. You believe what you want to believe, but don't expect that to be the law of the land for everyone else. Let's truly work to promote kindness, respect, and universal tolerance. Everyone knows we all deserve rights! Please, LEGALIZE GAY. The blood of gay members' shame, guilt, pain, and suicides is on these men's hands and the other authorities. Authority itself is notorious for misleading, no matter what organization. The world and, yes, some Mormons will stand up against this intolerance and bigotry. Let's be on the right side of history!! Freedom of religion is a bedrock principle of our nation, protected in the First Amendment of the US ... |

Mormon Missionary Tactic: Dodge the Truth
A teacher at the Missionary Training Center teaches new Mormon missionaries not to answer tough questions about LDS Church doctrine, but to instead change the subject. LDS missionaries face the difficult task of answering questions about embarrassing Mormon teachings. Millet advises that it is best just to dodge these subjects rather than confront the truth about Mormon teachings. Elsewhere on YouTube the video accompanying the audio clip presented here is referred to as "banned". The brickwork behind Dr. Millet suggests that the training he provided occurred at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah, which is close to BYU. |

Trapped Mormon Testifies
This video represents the experiences of the thousands of members of the LDS Church who know Mormonism is not true but have not left the church. For some Mormons, leaving the LDS Church is much, much more complicated than it seems and the consequences can be severe. The LDS Church works its way into so many aspects of Mormons' lives that some Mormons find it extremely difficult to get out of a church that they know is promoting false teachings. |
